Coventry Classics offer 3 different specifications of C type, Production, Fast Touring and Lightweight.

Our recommended specification is the Fast Touring model with triple Webbers, a 3.8 litre engine, and all-synchromesh gearbox and disc brakes.

Coventry Classics Production C Type.

  • Standard one door aluminium body, chassis and running gear
  • XK engine 3.4 litre with twin sandcast 2 inch SU carburettors on production Jaguar C Type manifold
  • Jaguar 4 speed Moss gearbox
  • 20 gallon fuel tank
  • Drum brakes or Disc brakes using XK150 discs and S1 XJ6 callipers (as retrofitted to many original factory Jaguar C Types)
  • Modified baffled production Jaguar sump

2012 price $ 165,000 NZD plus GST (VAT) if not exported from NZ.

Options at extra cost

  • passenger door, 2 piece cast sump

Stage One upgrade – fast touring

This is the most commonly specified car ordered by customers.

  • Standard one door aluminium body, chassis and running gear
  • XK engine 3.4 or 3.8 litre with triple Weber carburettors on special cast C type racing manifold
  • Jaguar 4 speed all synchromesh gearbox with overdrive (S Type)
  • 20 gallon fuel tank
  • Disc brakes using XK150 discs and S1 XJ6 callipers (as retrofitted to many original factory Jaguar C Types)

Stage Two upgrade – Le Mans lightweight

  • Later Jaguar cast two piece sump
  • Dunlop 3 pot callipers and Plessey pump
  • Rubber bag fuel tank, 40 gallon
  • Lightweight body 18 gauge
  • Moss gearbox
  • XK 3.4 engine with triple Webers
  • Lightweight aluminium rimmed wire wheels
  • Four link rear suspension

Note that this is a very expensive upgrade and no customer has specified such a car to date. The standard Stage One Upgrade Fast Touring Car is more reliable, easier to live with, more durable, has better brakes and at the end of the day both models are still replicas. For appearances, the cast sump may be worth considering but it will be no more efficient than the baffled standard Coventry sump. The passenger door option is also popular.
